A high-level Indonesian delegation is visiting Singapore next month. They are especially interested to find out the impact of Covid-19 on Southeast Asian economies. Singapore is their first stop. You are from the Ministry of Manpower. Your boss has asked you to prepare for the coming briefing to the delegates. The topic of the session is “Effect of Covid-19 on Workplace Safety and Health and Tripartite Response”.You are collecting background information now

For this assignment, select THREE (3) articles from the popular press (e.g., newspapers, magazines, reports, journals, the Internet) that reflect themes relevant to the above topic.

Insightfully assess each article by examining issues, and apply perspectives and information covered in classes and in the course notes.

The first two selected articles will cover the Singapore context only. The third article must cover a Southeast Asian country other than Singapore. The third article provides an opportunity for you to compare and contrast the experiences, manpower policies and practices in different countries.

Divide your write-up into three sections. Section A will cover your write-up on the first article. Section B will cover the second article while Section C covers the third article.

For each article, be sure to include the following in your write-up:

(a) Explain the issue(s) and organisational implication(s) reflected in the article;

(b) Examine whether the practice/approach is effective and/or adequate. If the article presents an opinion or a point of view, discuss the extent you agree or disagree with the  author’s viewpoint, explaining the basis for your agreement or disagreement;

(c) Brief conclusion: the “lessons” implied for employees, organisations or management and government.
