A local think tank recently concluded a two-year research study on the public perceptions of built heritage in Singapore, which included public perceptions of the meaning, purpose and value of local built heritage. This study also went further to investigate what factors might influence such perceptions and how such perceptions might shape national identity, personal well-being and conservation effort. Over 1,500 research participants ranging from 18 to 70
years old took part in this study funded by the National Heritage Board.

Question1. Appraise whether quantitative research approach or qualitative research approach or both were adopted by this study, and justify your opinion with evidence drawn from the study report. In relation, discuss possible reasons why the researchers had decided to use those research methods specified in the study report, instead of other options.

Question2. State four actions were taken by this study, in order to increase the validity of study measurements and/or conclusions. For each action stated, describe how it would lead to higher validity, and name the type(s) of validity that it sought to increase.

Question3. Evaluate this study to identify two areas where this study may have potential weakness or room for improvement. For each area identified, develop a suggestion on what can be done to make it better, and explain your rationale for the suggestion.
