Belden produces an array of networking and connectivity equipment, including cables, switches, and other related hardware. In response to shifts in the marketplace, the leader of the Industrial Automation (IA) unit launched the Enhanced Solutions Delivery (ESD). As of November 2022, members of the IA division are scrutinising preliminary outcomes and considering the resultant effects on the unit’s strategic planning and financial allocations. Concurrently, they are tackling distinct matters related to customer accounts and distribution channels.

(a) Appraise the contributions of ESD to enable Belden to transform from selling products to selling solutions. Your answer should include but be not limited to:

• the issues faced by Belden,
• the capabilities Belden needs to develop to cope with the issues you have identified,
• the role of ESD to improve warehouse management capabilities, and
• the role of big data analytics to assist Belden in implementing ESD.

(b) Choose an organisation (that you are currently working/interning for or one that you are familiar with) that provided business-to-business (B2B) services within the supply chain network that can benefit/has benefited from digital transformation — moving from selling products to selling solutions. Compare the applications of information technologies (IT) for digital transformation in the selected organisation with Belden.
