Question 1

(a) Your team has proposed the project objective stated in the project charter and identified the CTQ for this project in the Define phase. Establish the operational definition of the CTQ. Apply appropriate charts to measure the baseline performance of the CTQ using the data in the “BUS366_GBA_MCUT.xlsx”. Explain your observation from the chart.

(b) Display the distribution of the CTQ sample data. Estimate the process capability. Propose an alternative project objective which can meet the customer’s expectations more appropriately.

(c) Recommend and use appropriate charts to further analyse the sample data, present and interpret more insight about the baseline performance.

Question 2

(a) Create a fishbone diagram to show possible causes of the long lead time to fulfil an order placed in the “e-grocery retail” sector in a typical order fulfilment process in an e-grocery retailer. Indicate what could be the most likely causes of long lead time to fulfil an order in your example.

(b) Develop a data collection plan to collect data on the possible causes to the issue in the order fulfilment process.

(c) Suppose the reasons for long lead time were recorded in the file “BUS366_GBA_MCUT_.xlsx”. Use appropriate JMP charts to explore the causes of long lead time of order fulfilment. Appraise the top four (4) critical Xs (or root causes) and explain the reasons for your selection.

(d) Propose one (1) Lean tool for each of the four (4) critical Xs to reduce the lead time for order fulfilment and to meet the expectations of customers. You can refer to SU1 or peer-reviewed books, journals and articles.
