(a) ‘Within the organisation as a system, there are separate organisational sub-systems. These interrelated sub-systems are coordinated to ensure that organisational activities are directed towards the achievement of organisational goals (Mullins, 2019, p. 37).
Describe the five organisational sub-systems of Span Build Solutions (SBS) company with specific case examples. Why do you think an understanding of this framework of sub-systems is helpful for managers at SBS?
(b) Individuals differ in information processing and perception. The process of perceptual selection depends on both internal characteristics and external influences (Mullins, 2019). The company also plans to use advanced AI in construction planning for project control, budget estimates, and scheduling.
(i) Define perception and discuss any two (2) factors that influence employee perception by drawing examples from the SBS case. Identify two (2) possible perceptual shortcuts among employees at SBS and suggest one (1) way to eliminate each of them.
(ii) Present your views on how Artificial Intelligence (AI) may impact work and performance at SBS. Your answer must briefly describe AI and its benefits. The answer should also highlight key issues managers face focusing on the perception concept.
