You are attending to a seven-year-old girl, who has witnessed her cherished grandmother tragically killed in a car accident while they were on the way to school. It was a hit-and-run accident which occurred at a pedestrian crossing. She has a high level of anxiety, often becoming tearful and fearful when left alone. She has been experiencing nightmares and has been grieving for her late grandmother, often shedding tears.

Demonstrate your use of good attending skills with this girl in the “A” section of the ABC model of crisis intervention.  Excerpts of conversation are required. Please present segments of dialogue that exemplify micro-skills like paraphrasing, clarifying, reflecting feelings, summarizing, and checking for accuracy.
