ProjectDevelop two or more labs using the Siemens S7-1200 PLCs. Documentation will include equipment specification sheets, P&ID diagrams, bill of material lists, purchase orders, the scope of work, PLC tag lists, PLC code, etc. for each lab. The build will include preparing enclosures, mounting hardware, wiring hardware, durable wiring schemes for external I/O, etc. for each lab. The labs will focus on Industry 4.0 topics, see two examples below

Lab X1: Develop Safety Hardware/Software for Robotic CallDevelop a hardware system including Siemens S7-1200 PLCs, safety relays, pressure mats, light curtains, etc. as necessary to protect humans from the ABB robot. Develop Siemens Simatic code to implement the safety systems. Finally, perform a safety evaluation in accordance with both IEC 62061 and ISO 13849-1, perform your safety evaluation right at the system configuration stage, and integrate a standard-compliant report in your machine documentation as proof of safety.

Lab X2: Develop PLC network for Cybersecurity EvaluationDevelop a network, starting with a separate LAN Router/Switch, three or more S7-1200 PLCs, and a sensor network with various I/O. (could integrate with X1) Create documents discussing the 7 ways to protect industrial systems from cyber attacks. Liaise with the Cyber Lab to plan system attacks and/or methods of reporting on attacks and effectiveness of defenses.
