Assignment Structure

1.Introduction to the essay and rationale for the choice of organization

• A brief background of the company (a statement on the history of the company, scope you wish to focus on (e.g. geographic, business, products, functions, etc)
• Problems/challenges faced by the company (e.g. falling sales, mistakes made, change taking place in the organization, the need for restructuring, etc). All these will provide a justification for your analysis.

2. A brief section justifying your choice of theoretical perspective: either the symbolic or the contemporary

• Write a short statement on your chosen perspective for
  this report.
• Provide a brief discussion on the chosen perspective – what it is, its focus, the benefits. This will help to justify your choice.
• Provide a brief discussion on the research limitations, i.e. the disadvantages of chosen perspective. This can be in one or two statements.
• Briefly discuss the reasons why the other perspective is
  not chosen

3. A critical literature review on the one theme that you consider to have the greatest importance for that organization, using either the symbolic or the contemporary theoretical perspective.

4. Critical evaluation of the practices/behaviors of the case organization in relation to the selected theme through the critical application of the reviewed theories This is the practical component of the essay and the most challenging.

• Discuss the company based on the chosen theme using the chosen perspective.
• Discuss what did the company do right or wrong. Remember, in your discussion, you must stick to the perspective you have chosen.
