      IMPORTANT NOTE:

      Submit your solutions in the form of a single zipped file (containing a MS Word document and images) via Canvas, on or before the cut-off date shown above. It should be saved as “MTD115_TMA01_yourname.zip”.

      Full resolution JPEG images with unmodified embedded EXIF metadata are to be submitted. Image filenames should contain the question number and preference indicator.

      Do not submit any images that are hyperlinked to external image hosting websites within the MS Word document. This will be considered as no submission of images.

      Ensure that the submission does not exceed 150MB in file size.

      Question 1

      Refer to Figure 1(a) and Figure 1(b) to answer the following questions. You are to use correct, pertinent digital photography terminologies and vocabulary for your answers.

      (b) Describe the exposure of the photograph using the Exposure Triangle.

      (6 marks)

      (c) Explain why the photographer chose Aperture Priority mode for creating this photograph.

      (d) Suggest TWO (2) improvements you will make if you are tasked to create a similar photograph.

      Question 2

      Create THREE (3) original colour photographs for the theme of “Learning for Life” to demonstrate your photography techniques. The three photographs are of the same setup with different compositions (subject sizes, subject placements, camera angles, etc.). Select ONE (1) as your preferred image.

      The shots must contain ONE (1) book and ONE (1) writing instrument. The book and the writing instrument are the main subjects and must be in sharp focus. The shots must be overexposed by 1-stop.

      You are encouraged to use artistic creativity for other elements within the shots suitable for the theme. No corporate brands / logos must be seen in the shots. The shots must be age-appropriate for the general public of all ages.

      Question 3

      Create THREE (3) original colour photographs for the theme of “Learning in Focus” to demonstrate your photography techniques. Select ONE (1) as your preferred image.

      The shots must contain THREE (3) books and writing instruments (either two books and one writing instrument, or one book and two writing instruments). The three objects must be arranged at THREE (3) depths. The shots must be made with a shallow depth of field with only the object at the middle depth in sharp focus.

      You are encouraged to use artistic creativity for other elements within the shots suitable for the theme. No corporate brands / logos must be seen in the shots. The shots must be age-appropriate for the general public of all ages.

      Question 4

      Create THREE (3) original colour photographs for the theme of “The Learning Movement” to demonstrate your photography techniques. Select ONE (1) as your preferred image.

      The shots must contain at least ONE (1) book and ONE (1) writing instrument. The shots must be made to clearly show that the objects are in motion.

      You are encouraged to use artistic creativity for other elements within the shots suitable for the theme. No corporate brands / logos must be seen in the shot. The shots must be age-appropriate for the general public of all ages.

      Additional Instructions for Questions 2, 3 and 4

      For each question, your solutions in the MS Word document must include:

      1. THREE (3) original colour photographs
        a. 800px on the longer side with minimal JPEG compression
        b. Portrait or landscape orientation
        c. Taken during the period of this course
        d. ONE (1) image clearly indicated as your preferred image
      2. Screenshots of the unmodified EXIF metadata of all photographs
      3. A brief paragraph to describe why you selected your preferred image. Also explain your choice of ISO, aperture, shutter speed, and exposure mode.
