LOG309 Industry 4.0 Logistics Applications ECA July 2026: GenAI Prompt, API Design and Video, Singapore

The LOG309 July 2026 ECA puts students in charge of a company with unpredictable demand that has been hit by supplier disruptions, tariff changes and maritime transit risks, leading to stock shortages and a rising total landed cost. The report asks students to use a generative AI prompt to analyse one Industry 4.0 application, design a hypothetical API that fixes its weakness, and extend a proposed technology to work under real data and sensor constraints. A 3 to 6 minute video and a slide deck complete the paper.

What Must Be Submitted

• Report: Microsoft Word (.docx), submitted to Canvas via Turnitin. Submit this item first as it carries the highest weightage.
• Video presentation: minimum 3 minutes, maximum 6 minutes, submitted through Canvas (ECA_VIDEO). Showing the PowerPoint in the background is not required.
• Presentation summary: the PowerPoint slides on which the video is based, converted to PDF, at least 20 words, maximum 15 slides, no downloaded slide templates.

Use of Generative AI Tools (Allowed)

Generative AI tools may be used. Students must give proper attribution, including a table that names the AI tool, the approach and prompts used, the full output and the part of the output adapted for the assignment. The University may use a viva voce to confirm authorship.

Question 1

Industry 4.0 (the Fourth Industrial Revolution) refers to the widespread adoption of advanced digital technologies across industries. In supply chain and logistics, these technologies are being integrated to create more intelligent, efficient and automated processes, enabling real-time visibility, predictive decision-making and greater operational resilience.

Your company supplies products that have unpredictable demand. In recent years, you have experienced several supply chain disruptions impacting suppliers, tariffs and maritime transit risks. These disruptions have resulted in shortages in inventory and an increase in total landed costs (the complete price of getting a product from the factory floor into a customer’s hands).

Analyse one (1) major technological application that can help with such a scenario. (20 marks)

• Construct a prompt of up to 50 words. The output should not exceed 200 words.
• From this output, provide one (1) strength and one (1) weakness of this technology.
• For submission, include the prompt and word count, and the output from the GenAI tool.
• Estimated word count (your analysis): 200

Reflect on how your original prompt could have been revised to improve the quality of GenAI’s output. (5 marks, estimated 50 words)

Question 2

In order to address that weakness from Question 1, examine one (1) hypothetical API and the systems it obtains information from to produce the information required for that technology. Your answer should read like a mini design document: inputs, processing, outputs, integration and controls, tied explicitly to the technology mentioned. (20 marks, estimated 200 words)

Question 3

From the output of the GenAI tool provided in Question 1, propose one (1) Industry 4.0 technology to address shortages and landed-cost increases. Extend the idea to operate under two constraints you choose from: limited sensor coverage, supplier data quality issues, tariff rule changes or unpredictable maritime delays. Explain how the solution would still produce useful output. (20 marks, estimated 200 words)

Section B (25 marks)

Prepare a video recording of the presentation of at least 3 minutes but not exceeding 6 minutes.

Section C (10 marks)

Prepare a set of PowerPoint presentation slides upon which the video presentation is based, converted to PDF before submission.
