Event Background

The Singapore National Day Parade (NDP) 2022 will be held at the Floating Platform at Marina Bay.

The venue of NDP will be declared an enhanced security special event under the Public Order Act, seeking to designate the areas around the Float@Marina Bay as special event areas on the day of the parade. The purpose is to impose strict security measures to ensure public safety and security.

Security checks and screening on all persons and vehicles will be conducted within the designed areas as part of enforcement. Special zones within these event areas are planned with stricter security checks from midnight to 11.59 pm the following day. Anyone found with prohibited items such as explosives, loudhailers, firearms, and unmanned aircraft (e.g. drones) within the special areas would be either refused entry, removed from the site or prosecuted according to the law.

Based on the previous NDP held in the year 2021, it is expected that a ceremonial parade comprising uniformed contingents will be performed at the Marina Bay floating platform, along with another 200 people who will join virtually in pre-recorded segments. Team Singapore athletes are expected to make an appearance in the finale. Fully animated films will be featured, along with augmented reality effects exclusively for the home audience watching TV. The pre-parade activities will kick off at 6 pm in front of an audience of 1,000

guests and 10,000 other spectators admitted with tickets. The parade and ceremony segment will feature:

• Landing of Red Lion’s parachutists;
• Military aerial displays (state flag and fighter jets fly past);
• A 21-gun salute fired from military crafts;
• Marching contingents from various organizations, etc.
