Select a completed/current tall building or bridge project for study/evaluation:

I. Review the various aspects of the construction technology previously / currently adopted, not limiting to the following:

1) Choice of structural material and the system
2) Method of construction (permanent and temporary works)
3) Construction plant/equipment planning
4) Various authorities’ requirements and approvals with respect to project planning, design, and construction requirements

E.g. the authorities; URA /BCA /MOM /PUB /NEA /LTA /SCDF /NParks /CAAS 5) Any others

II. Suggest improvement of the construction method in the areas of productivity/ quality/safety/time /cost /sustainability enhancement for SMART construction;
a) DFMA – (PPVC-Prefabricated Prefinished Volumetric Construction)
b) IDD SMART technology adoption – BIM/VDC, AR/VR, robotic, drone, AI, IoT, mobile collaboration, 3D printing, RFID, 3D scanning, etc
c) Advanced construction material
d) SG green plan – reduce carbon emission, circular economy

III. Identify the current practical issues faced by civil/structural design engineers in adopting BIM (3D) and quantity surveyor /project manager/ builder when implementing BIM (4D/5D).

IV. Suggest solution(s) to smoothen the application of BIM (3D, 4D, 5D) and adoption of AI to perfect the BIM implementation.
