Assignment 1: Research Proposal

Assessment criteria for Assignment 1:
1. Ability to formulate three research questions derived from the broader body of accounting and finance research
2. Ability to justify the research methodologies to be used in this study with reference to appropriate literature
3. Ability to review the relevant literature and explain how data will be collected and analyzed with appropriate findings with respect to the research questions
4. Overall presentation (format) in writing a research paper including keeping to Harvard Referencing system.

Assignment 2: Career Development

This journal should include
1. Current status of the graduate labor market in Singapore supported with appropriate references/market reports,
2. Three different ways of seeking job opportunities with appropriate references,
3. How to prepare for job interviews with appropriate references,
4. The skills needed at job interviews with appropriate references,
5. A personal employment portfolio (CV & Cover letter.

Assessment criteria for Journal:
1. Ability to write a current status of the graduate labor market in Singapore supported with appropriate references/market reports
2. Ability to demonstrate different ways of seeking job opportunities, preparing for job interviews and skills needed in job interviews.
3. Ability to submit a well-written personal employment portfolio (CV & Cover letter) (to be attached as annex)

Part 2: Participation in activities and Presentation on interviewing skills

Assessment is based on the student’s participation in the group activities carried out in tutorial lessons and a presentation on interviewing skills as a job seeker. This presentation skill will benefit students who need to make a presentation during recruitment.

Assessment criteria:

(A) Participation in activities
Students are required to participate in role-playing during job interview exercises and to provide feedback and comments on peers’ presentations.
Participation in activities is evaluated according to the following criteria:
1. Participate in role-play
2. Participate in providing feedback and comments on peers’ presentations

(B) Presentation skills

Students are required to make a 5-minute individual PowerPoint presentation on the skills needed for a job interview.

The presentation will be evaluated according to the following criteria:
1. Organization of the presentation
2. Fluency of the presentation
3. 3% will be deducted if the students merely read from their scripts during the
presentation.
