Question 1

A stuy on the effect of the Green Deal initiative on building performance to save energy consumption in residential buildings has been conducted. Eighteen buildings have been investigated. The group of these buildings includes pairs of buildings with the same size and also occupied by families of the same size. Nine of householders of these buildings have taken the initiative and signed a deal. The other nine householders did not participate nor sign the deal. During the study, the ratio of the energy bill to the energy bill of the previous year of the study for the same building has been determined as shown in the table below for the two samples of the studied buildings.

1. The question of interest to the experimenter was whether the Green Deal initiative has made significant changes to energy bills or not.
2. Discuss the results of your answer to (a) with respect to the current debate about the different initiatives to reduce energy consumption in buildings.
