- Read the given short article adapted from leadership blogs and choose a leader from one of the global companies, or you may prefer to select a leader of your choice from any other global organisation, to complete the given tasks for the Coursework assignment.
- Apply any relevant concepts, tools, theories, models and frameworks to support your analysis and discussion in each task.
- You are required to write an individual report based on a global leader and organisation of your choice. The report should critically engage with leadership theories, tools, and models, and reflect on personal leadership development in a globalised, VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, and Ambiguous) world.
- Structure of the Coursework should take a report format with cover page, table of contents, executive summary, introduction, main body of tasks completed, conclusion and reference list. If necessary, you can also include appendix.

Assignment Tasks:
Based on your chosen leader from a global organisation, complete the following questions:
Introduction-5% (200 words)
Provide a brief introduction that highlights the main focus of the Coursework tasks, including an overview about the chosen organisation and its specific leader.
Task 1 – 20% (1000 words)
Based on a global organisation of your choice, critically evaluate the role and impact of strategic leadership in leading transformative changes experienced by the company within the last 5 years.
- In your answer, provide a critical analysis and discussion of the leadership style(s), skills and behaviour that are needed to deal more effectively with transformative change experienced by the organisation?
Apply any relevant tools, theories, change management models such as Lewin’s 3 steps framework and/or Kotter’s 8 steps model to support your analysis and discussion.
TASK 2 – 15% (600 words)
Based on your selected global company and further research about the organisation, critically evaluate its behaviour and impact on society. What role has ethical leadership played in the organisation’s growth and success over the years?
Apply any relevant tools, leadership theories, models/frameworks, and concepts such as Triple bottom line (People, Profit & Planet), CSR and UN SDGs to support your analysis and discussion.
TASK 3 – 15% (600 words)
Critically evaluate the role and impact of strategic leadership in building motivated, high performing and inclusive teams, using specific examples from your selected organisation. Apply any relevant tools, models and frameworks such as Beckhard’s GRIP model and/or Belbin’s theory on teams or any other relevant framework to support your analysis and discussion.
TASK 4 – 30% (1400 words)
Based on your personal leadership development experience and drawing more from what you have learned about leadership as a living practice on your course:
- Provide a critical personal reflection and analysis of your leadership style, skills, behaviour and personal professional development needed to adapt with emotional intelligence skills to become an effective ethical and strategic leader in a volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous (VUCA) global environment.
Apply any relevant concepts, tools, leadership theories and frameworks such as Kolb’s experiential learning cycle model and/or Johari window framework to support your discussion and reflective analysis.
