Communication Studies (CS) – Individual Assignment (40%)

In this individual assignment, you will be applying for a job of your choice to a company in Singapore as you have just completed your degree program. Go to JobStreet, Indeed, Classified Ads, etc. and decide on a job that you would like to apply for. You must attach this job advertisement, together with your cover letter and resume. Your job advertisement must have been posted online or published in the same month as your CS module.

Objectives:

1. To demonstrate your ability in communicating clearly by responding to a job
   advertisement.
2. To persuade prospective employers to consider you as their candidate of choice.

This assignment has 2 parts:

Part A

1. Provide an updated resume when applying for a job of your choice. Use a simple template for your resume.
2. You can assume that you have obtained a relevant degree and have had 3 years of working experience in the same or related discipline.
3. Your resume should be 2-3 pages in length.

Part B

1. Write a cover letter to support your resume, addressing it to the HR Director if no particular name is given in the job advertisement.
2. The date of your cover letter must be current.
3. Your cover letter should be 400-450 words in length.

Important notes:

• LMS submission: No allowable plagiarism rate
• PDF format only
• DO NOT insert any headers or footers (including page numbers) in your assignment as the system will produce an error message. This will affect your plagiarism report and grades.
• You may submit your drafts multiple times in the Draft Folder for plagiarism checks.
• Final submissions must be in the Assignment Folder in LMS. This is a one-time
  only submission. There will be no re-submission allowed.
• Remember to click “submit assignment” once you have uploaded your file or
  it will be counted as a late submission
• Penalty for late submission: 1-4 days: 5% deducted EACH CALENDAR DAY and more than 4 calendar days: 0 marks
• Submission deadline:
  Lesson 16 (for FT classes)
  Lesson 7 (for PT classes)
