Report proposing sustainable enterprise

You will write a business report proposing a new (sustainable) enterprise

• You will do a situational analysis
• You will decide on an organisational mission, type, product or service, and business development strategy
• You will write a report presenting your proposal

This assessment has 2 submission points

 Submission 1: situational analysis

Your situational analysis should be between 500 and 1000 words, clearly structured, and include:

• The good or service you have chosen and why (think “meeting a need”)
• A rough outline of some of the enterprises (or types of enterprises or entities) currently meeting this need
• A critical analysis of sustainability issues, including a consideration of externalities and value creation and capture
• Gaps or reframing that may be possible to meet this need more sustainably (e.g., your creative ideas, reframing, challenging assumptions)
• Questions or ideas you have

The purpose of the situational analysis is so we can make sure you have decided on a topic, have some ideas about where you may be thinking an answer lies, and that you understand the task.

Submission 2: report

Your report should be 2000 words, clearly structured, and propose a new enterprise to meet a need in a more sustainable way

Remarks:

Investigate and evaluate economic, political, social, and environmental actors and their respective agency, priorities, ethics and actions, in the context of developing and implementing sustainable practices in professional and personal settings

Analyse sustainability challenges using logic and values-based rationalities and a multi-stakeholder view, and propose sustainable solutions that are desirable, feasible and viable for business, society and the environment.

A suggested mix of sources may be 5 to 10 academic articles, 5 to 10 citations of business data online (e.g., corporate sustainability reports, stock exchange data, World Bank reports), and 5 to 10 news items (respected news outlets, especially useful for situational analysis).
