Question

You will be writing a research paper that responds to the given question: Appraise the impact of modernisation on workplace literacy practices. To answer this question, you will need to carry out three tasks:

1. present a literature review of at least three sources to illustrate your understanding of the topic.

2. collect authentic data from two working  adults to support your response to the given question.

3. Write a research paper that responds to the given question based on your literature review and collected data

Task 1 Literature Review
The purpose of the literature review is to provide a context for your paper and identify the concepts and findings that are relevant to your analysis and interpretation of your data.

The literature review should summarise the key points of at least three relevant sources. These sources should not include the course textbook or the Study Units. However, they can be sources listed as references in the course materials. In addition, at least one of the three relevant sources must come from the recommended readings below.

Task 2 Data Collection
Design a set of interview questions that will enable you to examine how modernisation has impacted workplace literacy practices.

Interview two working adults to gather data on their working environments and the literacy practices that they engage in. The interviewees can come from similar working environments or work in different occupations.
Each interview should be no longer than 30 minutes.

Task 3 The Research Paper
The research paper should include:
a. A literature review that critically evaluates the relevant sources.
b. A brief description of the interviewees and their workplaces.
c. An extended discussion that (1) interprets the interview data in the light of the literature review, (2) analyses the literacy practices in the workplace, and (3) appraises the impact of modernisation on workplace literacy practices.
