Demonstrate an understanding of the assumptions of the trait approach by critiquing Martin, Oades, and Caputi’s (2012) arguments about coaching to achieve personality change. Your answer should discuss whether personality is amenable to change, and if so, how changes in personality traits may be achieved.

• You may come across similarly titled journal articles when searching for Martin et al. (2012) in the SUSS library website. Please be mindful that the required reading is authored by Martin, Oades, and Caputi and published in 2012.
• To answer this question, you will have to review information from your textbook on the trait approach. However, this will not be sufficient as the information in the textbook is limited and also unlikely to touch on this exact subject matter.
• You are required to do additional research and cite at least THREE journal articles or book chapters of published books (excluding the textbook and the required reading) for this question. Researching on contemporary findings and opinions published after 2012 will also allow for more updated perspectives to add substance and credibility to your critique on whether personality can be changed.
• Reading widely and beyond the textbook will add depth to your essay, and references to relevant research studies and examples will attract more marks.
