Read the scenario below.

You were having lunch with your team members, Gary and Munirah, to work on a deck of Power Point slides for a group-based assignment that was due at midnight that night. Munirah, who was typically outgoing during meetings, was uncharacteristically reserved. She looked tense and did not respond to your conversations with her usual upbeat banter.

During your WhatsApp conversation with her the day before, Munirah shared with you that she had multiple commitments that threatened to overwhelm her. In addition to her part-time jobs as a freelance tutor and content writer, she enrolled in six courses that semester in hopes of completing her degree as soon as possible.

The following conversation transpired:

Gary: What do you think of this design for the slides? Munirah, you have been really quiet today. Any thoughts on the slides?

Munirah: I really don’t have the headspace to decide which design is better.

Gary: I am stressed out too you know, but how are we supposed to work as a team if you don’t even want to talk?

Munirah (crying): I’m just really stressed. Just leave me alone!

Gary remained silent, not knowing how to respond to Munirah. You thought this would be a good time to step in.
