Memory is a cognitive, information-processing system that enables us to store and retrieve information over time (Zimbardo et al., 2017). Because memory is an imperfect process of reconstruction, our memories can be susceptible to various kinds of errors and distortions (Kensinger & Corkin, 2004). For example, Roediger and McDermott (1995) found that when presenting participants with lists of thematically-related words with a critical but un presented lure (e.g., the words thread, pin, eye, sewing, sharp, and point are presented, but not the critically associated word needle) participants would falsely recall the critical lure. More recent studies (e.g., Dehon & Brédart, 2004) have used this sort of test (called the DRM paradigm) to establish that older adults are more likely to falsely recall the critical lure than younger adults. Based on past findings, the present study attempts to replicate the finding that older adults are more susceptible to false memories by using lists of words and a recognition test.

Abstract
The experiment was conducted to investigate the impact of Stroop interference on an individual’s effort. A list of congruent and incongruent color names was given to 2 groups of participants to test the experimental hypothesis that the group with the congruent color list will take the shortest amount of time to name the ink colors. Introduction
The Stroop task is a test between an automatic process like word reading against a controlled process like color naming (Posner & Synder, 1975; Shiffrin & Schneider, 1977, as cited in MacLeod, 1992). MacLeod (1991a&b) goes on to explain that an individual would take a longer time to identify the color ink when it is printed on a different color word. This means that the individual’s response time would be slowed when the person is asked to identify the color “blue” upon seeing the word PINK that is printed in blue ink. More recent research on the Stroop effect has continued to support this finding (Cothran & Larsen, 2008).
