Case Study: 10K Ubin Peloton

A local sporting events company, LetsGoSG, plans to organize a 10km “fat-wheel” bicycle race on Pulau Ubin on New Year’s Eve. The event expects large participation, generating over $1 million in revenue, with 20% of profits supporting conservation efforts.

The race will involve groups of 12 cyclists starting in 5-minute intervals. Half the participants will bring their own bicycles, while others will rent them. 20 volunteers from various schools will assist in event operations.

However, local authorities and residents have concerns about safety, security, and inconvenience. Additionally, the Ministry of Home Affairs has flagged a high terrorism threat, making the event a potential target for attacks.

To proceed, Lets Go SG must submit a comprehensive risk management plan. Students of PSS388 have been engaged as independent risk assessors to evaluate event safety and security risks.
