One of the most regularly observed features of the criminological landscape is that the bulk of crime appears to be undertaken by boys and men. Relatively speaking, women tend to be much less involved in most sorts of offending. The proportion of women with a conviction is lower at all ages than that of males.

• If criminologists agree that the gender gap in crime is universal i.e., women are
  always and everywhere less likely than men to commit criminal acts, there is no value in studying female criminals. Critique this statement and analyze the criminal motivations of females.
• Evaluate the sufficiency of existing interventions for female offenders in Singapore and formulate two intervention strategies that can complement these existing interventions.
