Part 1: Introduction

Present a brief synthesis of the literature (not more than 8 relevant sources, including news reports) that explains

1. The challenges experienced by immigrant families with young children, and
2. The implications of such challenges for young children’s well-being.

Part 2: Observation and Analysis

a. Describe TWO (2) existing collaborative practices in your early childhood setting that can assist immigrant families in integrating with your early childhood community.

b.Using the conceptual frameworks discussed in the study units, present an analysis of the two practices you have described in (a).

Part 3: Recommendations

Respond to your analysis above by presenting TWO ( 2) other ways in which your (field placement) early childhood setting can better collaborate with immigrant families in order to optimise their children’s well-being. Include a clear rationale based on your discussion with the teacher(s) in the preschool sector and refer to relevant course readings.

Part 4: Advocacy Plan

a. Reflect on your role as an early childhood educator and discuss what it means to be an advocate for immigrant families with young children.

b. In order to support immigrant families’ integration within the community, present a strength-based advocacy plan to catalyse some degree of change within your (field placement) early childhood setting. Include a clear objective, method(s) of advocacy, target audience and a succinct action plan. Use relevant literature to support your rationale.
