Overview
In this individual assessment, you will screen potential host countries for a chosen entrepreneurial start up or small to medium enterprise to you agree to work on with your team. You will systematically identify, analyse and compare the various dimensions of distance (i.e. cross-national difference) between your firm’s home market and 2 unique foreign countries (distinct from the countries chosen by your teammates).
Based on your analysis and the nature of your chosen firm, you will identify business implications and make recommendations which will later be consolidated with your team for Assessment 3.
The purpose of this assessment is to engage in the methodical screening of potential host countries by identifying and applying a systematic framework to analyse the various cross-national differences between your new venture’s home market and 2 distinct host countries.
This assessment will serve as a critical step in understanding the challenges new ventures face when they expand beyond their national borders. The findings and recommendations from this individual assessment will set the foundation for the work you will be doing as a team for Assessment 3.
N.B. Although this is an individual assessment, the 2 unique foreign countries you choose to conduct a distance analysis need to be chosen as a team. Your team will be formed in your week 1 live workshop. You will need your tutor to approve the 2 countries you have chosen to analyse for Assessment 1. Your team will be the team you complete your assessment 3 with.
