Statement of Charlie
My Mom has not been the same since the electric treatments she had at IMH in late 2018. She took the treatments due to her severe depressions but they seemed to have a negative effect on her. She became paranoid and suspicious of everything and everybody, especially my Dad.
Then everything happened on 15 July last year. That morning, both Kandy, my stepsister, and I were home. Both parents were arguing heatedly. I don’t know how it started but from what I heard, my Dad
said that he will not give my Mom any money. And my Mom was accusing my Dad of having an affair. Kandy and I tried to calm them both down but to no avail. The argument just kept getting louder and louder.
After a while, the argument became violent. Mom took out a kitchen cleaver and attacked Dad. He in turn took up a broom to defend himself. It came to a point when my Mom threatened to kill both of
them. She kept saying: ”I don’t care anymore. I have nothing to lose. I am going to kill you, then kill the b**** with the b****** baby, and then kill myself!” Dad calmed down and tried to assuage her.
Mom then forced Dad to write out his will and then made him sign it. She literally held the cleaver throughout and threatened to chop off his body parts if he did not sign. She then signed it and asked Kandy and me to sign it. She folded the paper and carefully placed it in my hand saying that I must keep it carefully for
the lawyers. This calmed her down a bit.
