The assessment is one piece of work (100% weighted mark):
- Your task is to create a comprehensive report in Microsoft Word, with a target word count of approximately 3000 (+/- 10%). This report should critically analyse and evaluate factors related to organisational continuity and resilience, considering the complexities of the business context.
- Identify an international company operating in the Logistics and Supply Chain industry. Your report’s analysis will be based on current information about your chosen company.
- Choose a company you can learn a lot about by reviewing its online platforms and the relevant academic literature; you should use this information to prepare your report. Your assignment will mainly focus on recommending strategies and action plans regarding the continuity and resilience of that selected company.
Assignment Instructions
1. Case Study Selection: Your research and analysis should revolve around the company you have identified and selected.
2. Critical Analysis: Critically analyse and evaluate the factors impacting organisational continuity and resilience within the company. This analysis should consider the complexities of the business context. Your arguments should be logical and persuasive – based on evidence from reading and (secondary) research.
3. Information Sources: Your report should be based on information gathered from the company’s website, various available online platforms, and relevant academic literature.
You are encouraged to participate actively in the workshop sessions, where we will address questions and unravel issues, concerns, and connections related to the assignment topic.
4. Focus on Recommendations: Your report should primarily recommend (at least) four strategies and action plans for your selected company’s continuity and resilience. Support recommendations effectively with evidence.
5. Text and Apparatus: Text and scholarly apparatus (references, etc.) should be well presented in an approved format.
Your report must have the following sections:
- A cover page sharing your name, course name, student number, word count and submission date.
- A contents page sharing the pages of each title in your report.
- A short abstract or executive summary, sharing the big picture of your report in 150 words. (7.5 Marks)
- An introduction section sharing the problem statement, the importance of this report, your most essential contribution(s) and the main research questions (15 marks)
- Main body I: sharing the academic literature review on the perspectives chosen by you to discuss in your report, covering previous studies, models, frameworks and strategies (including but not limited to systems and processes, culture, human capital, leadership style, organisational climate and so on) (30 marks)
- Main body II: sharing the main strategies to manage the business continuity and resilience for the case of this study and the action plan steps in order to implement them (at least four strategies and their implementation steps are needed). (25 marks)
- Conclusion section. The conclusion should bring everything together: (re)state the argument and link the evidence to the main points to demonstrate how you have successfully answered the essay question. (15 marks)
- A comprehensive list of references used in the text (you are encouraged to have half of your references from the past five years) – References need to follow Harvard referencing style, as recommended by University of Sunderland)- The references are not counted in the word count (7.5 Marks)
- Appendices (if needed) – The Appendices are not counted in the word count.
