Assignment Details:

Students must demonstrate the ability to analyse a wide range of financial data including financial statements, cash flows (revenues and expenditures), organisational targets related to financial proposals, costs, and company survivorship. Students must apply concepts, theories, methods and techniques taught during the module to evaluate financial decisions of their choosing.

Financial Decision-Making Assignment Questions

1. Evaluate the availability, suitability and cost of a variety of forms of finance relevant to a variety of scenarios.
2. Review the purpose of financial statements and develop the ability to critically interpret such statements.
3. Select and utilise appropriate accounting & finance methodologies and techniques which will contribute to the long-term creation of wealth and value creation.
4. Critique evaluation techniques when attempting to value either individual projects or the enterprise as a whole.
5. Demonstrate the ability to select, analyse and synthesise appropriate sources of literature.
6. Convey problem-solving and decision-making skills through the selection and application of appropriate tools, and control processes.
7. Develop the capacity to challenge received wisdom and to structure counter-proposals.
8. Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in report format and presentation.

Students must choose a real-life example of financial decision-making they participated in based on their professional experience. This may involve decisions pertaining to investment appraisal, cost of capital, sources of long-term finance, cash budgeting/management of working capital, and lease versus buy decisions.
