Assessment Criteria for Assessment Part A (20 Marks)

Completeness, level of insight in relation to design requirements. 3/20

Level of information hierarchy and visual hierarchy, detailed notes, relates to goals. 5/20
6. Three mood boards
The mood is appropriate to the client and the level at which the mood is defined, visually and conceptually. 5/20
Part B – Design Concepts
Taking into account the design briefs findings, develop a design concept for your client’s website.
The design concept will incorporate-
- One of the visual moods, colors, and typography from your design brief • A desktop, tablet, and mobile view
- Design notes that explain your design choices

Part C – Wireframe and Web Design Critique
In the absence of clients to give us feedback on our design concepts, the forum will be used as a testing ground for our web design concept stage. Upon posting a design, students will receive feedback. Students will then make improvements and then repost. The post-receive comment- improve-repost cycle will commence from session 4 (starting with the wireframes) and finish when the final design concept is completed. Overall each student must have posted no less than 20 critiques of various design concepts. Less than 20 posts will receive a reduction in marks.
1. A finished and responsive website with 2 linked pages, based on an approved design.
- The first 2 links in your menu bar must link to a gallery and an about HTML pages in your site.
- The gallery page must have a working jquery lightbox or use Modal images.
2. An 800-word academic essay that examines your website in relation to this question–
In a List Apart article was written in 2014, Victor Yocco states that in terms of designing for the web “if you want users to actually pay attention to your message, make it directly relevant and easy to understand.” But first, we need to ask ourselves questions of our designs, such as-
- How did we make the message clear in our web design?
- How did we make the website relevant to our users?
- How does Webdesign facilitate people taking actions, the way we want them to? Using your own web design as an example, describe how you took into account and applied these questions to your work.
3. Usability Surveys
This usability assessment is based on surveying 3 users. The surveys will contain,
-4 questions that relate to functionality
-4 questions that relate to the visual communication of your client’s goals (see LMS for consent forms and usability forms)
When you have completed the survey submit a one-word document that contains • a summary of your usability findings
- 3 scanned survey forms
- 3 scanned copies of the consent forms.
4. W3C Validation

6. Accessibility Test

We are primarily interested in promoting our work and selling photographs. We also run training workshops with photographers. Most photography websites are either cluttered or have very simple one-page images. Although I like the minimal aesthetic we need something different that will set us apart. Jon Beck Photography is a high-end production company so we need to be distinct. We focus on understanding the specific needs of our clients and provide a high level of personal service. We are industry professionals with a clear focus on client responsiveness and project delivery- with a distinctive flair. Using the latest technology and implementing best practice solutions is crucial to ensuring we achieve the best outcomes for our clients.
