This assignment is worth 20% of the final mark for FMT321 Fire Safety & Engineering.

The cut-off date for this assignment is 20 February 2026, 2355hrs.

This TMA02 aims to gauge your learning in (1) organizing fire safety organization, and (2) developing the required emergency response and evacuation plan for the designated premises.

This TMA02 covers materials studied in Study Unit 1 to 4. You should review these materials in both your textbook and the unit notes before beginning the assignment. In addition, you may find it necessary to perform additional research in order to provide better answers to the questions.

Question 1

As the manager of the fire safety and engineering department of the facility management division, you are to demonstrate your ability in (1) organizing the premises’ fire safety organization, and (2) developing the required emergency response and evacuation plan for:

An 8-storey shopping mall, comprising 3 basement levels of car park, 5 levels of retail outlets, restaurants, food court, and a cineplex. The building has 4 designated exit staircases, 2 passenger lifts, 1 fire lift, 1 evacuation lift and a cargo service lift.

Describe how the designated premises should be organized for fire safety within the entire premises including the associated tenants or companies and their business operations.

Conduct a review on the premise’s threat/hazard-scenarios, determine the premise tierlevel using the SCDF National CERT Standard and Guidelines; and establish the requirements for the premise to build the CERT’s capability with respect to equipping, competency, and training.

(d) Discuss how the Site-ERP is to be formulated and developing the Site-ERP for the designated premises (as an attachment to the main report) using the format and guidelines stipulated by the SCDF (with site layout plan, schematic drawing, etc.).

Note: This is mandatory and constitute 50% of TMA02.

Your TMA-Report shall be kept at a maximum of 1500±150 words (excluding the Executive Summary, Tables and Figures, References, and Appendixes). Too few words mean you are unable to do your topic justice; too many words mean you have not been discerning enough in your selection of materials or written succinctly enough. You are to discuss and apply your learning in your report (providing in-text citation and appropriate referencing) and the final TMA-Report document shall include:
