Working hours and energy impacts: Outline the working hours and explain how these hours influence the building’s energy systems (e.g., equipment usage patterns, operating schedules, occupancy-related loads).

Installed equipment: Identify the major equipment installed in the facility and briefly explain their relevance energy management.

(a) Based on the workplace scenario, discuss the role of the energy manager within the organization. Emphasize the importance of communication in energy management. Provide THREE (3) recommendations to strengthen the energy manager’s role and improve communication regarding energy management within the organization.

(b) Energy management is defined as an interrelated system of elements that supports the establishment of an energy policy, the setting of energy objectives, and the development of processes and procedures required to achieve those objectives. Assume you are the energy manager for the building described in Question 1a.

You have identified a significant shortcoming in your organization’s energy management approach. Your organization’s energy policy states a commitment to reduce energy utilization by 20% within three years through gradual implementation. However, after one year, records show that energy utilization has increased by 4% from the baseline. Demonstrate your energy management competency by implement a gap analysis using ONE (1) of the following energy systems (choose one).

a. Air Conditioning and Mechanical Ventilation (ACMV)
b. Lighting systems
c. Building façade The gap analysis must include valid reasons for the shortfall, and evidence (drawn from the case scenario and observation/contextual details) to justify your findings.

(c) Using your answer to Question 1b, develop solutions to address the identified lapses and achieve compliance with ISO 50001. Your solutions must align with the requirements of an Energy Management System (EnMS) under ISO 50001 and demonstrate how the organization would correct deficiencies while supporting continuous improvement.
