For this assignment, you are required to do the following:

1a) Design a propeller casing top & bottom

Design of appropriate size of your choosing.

1b) Design a propeller

Application can be anything.
Your Design should include 3-10 parts, such as Propeller housing (Upper), Propeller housing (Lower), Propeller, shafts and anymore parts if required.
Material is based on your own decision.

1c) Create a Stress Analysis Simulation

1d) Create a Motion Video in MP4 file

1d) Write a report (1000 – 5000 words)

Stress Analysis Simulation

  1. Create a stress analysis study on 3 critical parts of your design
  2. Take a screenshot of your analysis for each critical part (must show stress distribution across the entire part and Von Misses Chart) and paste into your report
  3. In your report, explain the following:
    • Why did you choose that amount of load for your analysis?
    • Why did you choose the type of load (point load, distributed load, etc)?
    • Why did you choose that location of load for your analysis?
    • Explain if your design is strong enough for the intended application based on the results from stress analysis

Motion Video

  1. Create motion stimulation, run your motion study simulation and showing the breakdown of your parts.
  2. Save video in MP4 file. Max duration 3min.

Report

Your writeup should also include the following:

  • What is your design and purpose of the design?
  • How do you derive and come into your decision of final design?
  • What is so good and special about your design?
  • Write a reflection of what can be improved.

Submission Instruction:

Submit the following files into the BB

  1. Motion study video in MP4 File
  2. All Solidworks file (Part, Assembly)**Missing Submission will result in deduction of marks
  3. Report in PDF

  • Must have all 3 screenshots of stress analysis simulation in your report
  • Screenshots must include the stress distributions across the part and the Von Misses Chart
  • Must answer all questions indicate in Pg 2.
Video (MP4)

  • Video should be playable
  • Video must include rotary motion of the propeller
  • Video must include exploded view of the parts
  • Video must include collapse view of the parts
  • Max duration 3min.
Report Submission
(10 marks)
  • All screenshots should be arranged nicely.
  • Must answer all questions indicated in Pg 2.
  • Marks will be awarded according to writing style and language skills
Part and Assembly
(10 marks)
  • All solidworks Part and Assembly files must be submitted. Missing submissions will result in deduction of marks.
  • Assembly design must be feasible.
  • e.g is it possible to assembly and dismantle them?
  • Marks will be awarded according to uniqueness and creativity of design
