This assignment is worth 12% of the final mark for EAS101 – Aerospace Management.

Question

Overview :  You will need to provide your own analysis and summarise the key issues in the assessment topic, in your own words. To do this, you will need to do a wide range of research and critically comment on different aspects of the topic. This is an individual assessment task, that is, to be completed by each student individually. Consult with your lecturer regarding any queries on the assignment.

Assessment Topic :  Air Video Tech is a company headquartered in Cheshire UK. The 20 years old company offered video surveillance solutions to the Civil Aircraft sector. They have successfully implemented flight deck entry, cabin and cargo surveillance, taxi aid and IFE systems for various aircraft types. Accreditation the company had obtained are EASA Parts 21 & 145, FAA and AS9100 Rev D certification.

The company has strong presence in EU. Due to Brexit, the company is considering setting up operations in Asian countries, however the company has NO prior experience in Asia.

The Board of Directors of the company has shortlisted two places for the new operation, Singapore or Shenzhen. They have appointed you as a consultant to study which location is more suitable.

(a) Perform a PESTLE analysis on the two locations and support your choice of the location.

(b) For your choice of location, explain each of the following way to enter the Asia market and make a recommendation with supporting evidence. You are to consider the law and regulations of the country, the restrictions of foreign investments, the risks and other relevant factors.
i) Joint venture with a local aviation company
ii) Acquisition of a local aviation company
iii) Greenfield Investment

(c) One of the companies that Air Video Tech will like to work with is SIA Engineering. Study the financial statements found in annual report of SIA Engineering for FY2017/2018 and FY2016/2017 and compare the financial performance of the company for the two years. You should provide the relevant financial ratio analysis in your report.

(d) Using the 5P of marketing model, explain how you could achieve a quick penetration of solutions offered by Air Video Tech in the Asian market.
