There are three essay questions in the final assessment.  Each essay question worths 10 marks.  For each essay question, conduct research on the Internet, Youtube, media reports, and the company’s website and address the specific requirements

1.Wesfarmers has a diversified business portfolio that is structured with divisions. Each division can contain more than one strategic business unit.  Examine the characteristics (such as market share and financial performance) of the main SBU(s) in its three divisions (Bunnings, Officeworks, and Kmart Group), identify and discuss the type of corporate parenting role used by (1) its corporate headquarters for its divisions, and (2) its divisional Headquarters for its SBUs.  In your view, how value can be created by the headquarters to its strategic business units?

2. Describe the three SAFe criteria for strategy evaluation. What key issues does the suitability address?  How the suitability of a strategy can be evaluated?  Provide an example to show your understanding of the suitability evaluation process.

3. TPG and Vodafone, the Australian’sthird and fourth-largest telecommunications companies, were merged in August 2020.  Identify and explain the main driver/motive for this merger, discuss its potential benefits to the merged entity (TPG Telecom), and its possible challenges in implementing its post-merger integration. (Hints: Please check the TPG Telecom’s website for the relevant documents, as well as some videos on Youtube.
