Facilities Management

Facilities Management is the amalgamation of multi-disciplinary activities within the physical environment while managing the impact on the workplace and people (IFMA, no date). Based on Friends of the Earth (2016) report card, cruises are graded based on their sewage treatment, air pollution reduction, and water quality compliance. Therefore, this section will analyze RCCL’s practices on waste and energy management.

Waste Management

Cruise liners have no legal obligation to report what they release in the ocean, therefore, neither the government nor the public is aware of the amount of pollution released (Oceana, 2003). Nevertheless, waste management is crucial as an average ship produces approximately 50 tons of solid waste, 800,000 liters of sewage,7.5 tons of liquid waste, and 130,000 liters of greywater weekly (Lighthouse Foundation, 2002).
