Question 1

This ECA project requires you to

• Design a season-long, periodized mental skills training program for an intact competitive sports team;
• Prepare and deliver a hands-on mental skills mini workshop for your chosen competitive sports team; and
• Evaluate the perceived effectiveness of the workshop session conducted.

(a) Using an intact, competitive sports team of your choice

Design a season-long, periodized mental skills training program for a competitive sports team of your choice. This proposed program should incorporate as many relevant self-regulation skills together with cohesion- or teamwork-related skills.

Make sure to support your design proposal by utilizing relevant mental skills training models or frameworks.

(b) Prepare a lesson plan for a half-hour mini workshop on any ONE mental skill or technique. Justify your plan with relevant research-backed theories and/or best practices.

(c) Evaluate the perceived effectiveness of the mental skills workshop using a quantitative survey method to be completed by the team of athletes, and reflect on your experience and discuss the lessons learned.
