Question 1

This project evaluates your team’s capacity to collect, prepare and analyze data to generate valuable insights. You will collect data from SingStat by choosing one of the following themes to access the relevant statistics, press releases, publications, and references. You could decide to work on a
topic the team is interested in or sufficiently knowledgeable about.

• Population
• Society

(a) Describe the business situation with the current situation and contexts, and identify one possible problem that can be addressed by analyzing the datasets you have selected and discussing the critical assumptions for potential business analytics applications.

(b) Create a summary of the dataset in tabular format. It should contain the data dictionary, each data field’s type, and summary measures.

(c) Develop a proposal for a business analytics solution. It should contain a discussion of the appropriateness of two business analytics techniques to use, including one spreadsheet analysis and one data mining technique. You are only required to discuss the expected results and do not need to construct the actual model.

(d) Employ data visualization techniques to develop at least four charts to show an interesting trend, pattern, or relationship among variables from the selected dataset. You should use Power BI to produce the charts. Provide a screenshot of each produced chart.
