After the completion of this project, learners should be able to:
- Describe the essentials of influencing and suggest the use of different influencing styles with reference to the case.
- Describe the factors that impact the negotiation.
- Identify and describe the use of counseling and coaching skills with reference to given employee performance-related or conflict scenarios in the case.
- Recommend appropriate counseling and coaching techniques to HR stakeholders.
Influencing & Negotiation
- With reference to Robert Cialdini’s Principles of Influence, suggest, with justification, THREE ways to persuade Dennis and his team to utilize their annual leave.
- Explain TWO factors that would be important to Felicia when negotiating with her HR Director to allow 50% of carry-forward leave.
- Propose, with explanation, TWO influencing styles that Felicia can adopt to get more support from the employees to utilize the remaining 50% of carry-forward leave by the 1st quarter of the next year.
Counseling and Coaching:
- Highlight THREE differences between counseling and coaching.
- Suggest to Felicia what she should do in her role as HR and explain the importance of listening skills by considering their impact during a counseling session with Nicole.
- With reference to the GROW coaching model, suggest THREE improvements areas that Dennis can consider to further hone his coaching skills.
