TMA02: Experimental Report: Levels of Processing
Prepare an experimental report based on the CogLab “Levels of Processing” experiment and discuss the experimental results which answer the following research question:
Does deliberate learning (as opposed to incidental learning), where deep processing is applied, result in better memory retrieval?
Notes:
- Additional report writing guidelines are available in Canvas L01 under Modules >TMA02 Experimental Report.
- Based on the feedback provided in TMA01, prepare the Introduction section which should end with all the hypotheses statements, including H3.
- You will learn about interaction effects and how to prepare the interaction hypothesis (H3) during Seminar 5.
- The data collected in TMA01 will be analysed using SPSS for this assignment and made available on the Canvas T-group site. The statistical results is needed for the Results sectionm of the experimental report.
- If you have not done PSY392 Methods of Data Analysis, MTH219 and MTH220, it is highly recommended that you review the pre-recorded narrated PowerPoint presentation on the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) which is available in Canvas L01 under Modules > TMA02 Experimental Report. This will help you to make better sense of the statistical results.
- PDF files of the relevant sections of Chapter 10: Analysis of variance with more than one IV are also available in Canvas for those who wish to find out more about the statistical test (Dancey & Reidy, 2004).
