The Evolution Sport 

Objectives

Many sports were introduced by the British and our early migrants in the past. As Singaporeans became more affluent, many of us explored more exciting and newer sports. Some of these sports are here because there is demand for it, some provide business opportunities while others were here because we were hoping to help our country to win a medal in some international competitions. Some sports are introduced as the city-state developed a more sophisticated preference and people need to find new space/ideas to keep themselves active and healthy.

In this ICA, learners are required to do research and reflection on a selected sport pertaining to its commercialization, governance, and the impacts of this selected sport on the local community.

Assignment

This is an individual written assignment requiring each learner to submit a report pertaining to the commercialization, governance, and impacts of a selected sport.

• Identify a sport in Singapore. Provide an introduction of this sport and bring us through the history & its commercialization in the local

Based on the identified sport, research online and discuss how it is developed commercially, promoted, and governed in Singapore. Some sports may not have an NSA locally but remained regulated in some ways by local authorities.
