It is increasingly harder for businesses to compete without having a well-organized roadmap. The Business Excellence The framework is a roadmap for businesses to build a competitive business. Ultimately, the goal for achieving business excellence is to lead to long-term sustainable business growth. The quest for business excellence is also fundamentally a focus on quality improvement.

(a) Describe in your own words what is the meaning of sustainable business growth.
(b) Define productivity and in your opinion, illustrate why does quality improvement lead to higher productivity.

Dr. Edwards Deming is a pioneer of the Total Quality Management movement. One of his main contributions to the Total Quality Management movement was Deming’s 14 Points. Of Deming’s 14 Points, two (2) are highlighted below;

• Drive out fear and create trust.
• Remove barriers that rob people of pride in workmanship.

(a) Analyse the above two (2) Points and in your own words, explain what is meant by each of these two (2) Points in an organizational context.

(b) For each of the above two (2) Deming’s Points, examine and propose an approach (i.e., initiative/program) that could be deployed in an organization so as to inculcate and practice it.
