Select and briefly explain ONE theory of motivation. With reference to your current or former workplace [If you are a full -time student and currently not working, you may choose an organization you are familiar with, e.g. as a volunteer], examine how your chosen theory can explain motivation in your workplace.

Part 2: Essay Question

According to a 2018 Ministry of Manpower report, there were 210,800 ‘own-account workers’, or ‘gig workers’, in Singapore. While consumers have benefited from more transportation options and cheaper deliveries, governments all around the world are figuring out how best to protect gig workers.

1. Discuss contemporary research into gig workers in relation to TWO of the following three topics: a) Motivation in the Organization, b) Job Satisfaction and Positive Employee Attitudes/Behaviours, and c) Worker Stress and Negative Employee Attitudes/Behaviours.
2. Addressing the Ministry of Manpower, show how your discussion of the TWO chosen topics can lead to recommendations on how best to protect gig workers.
