The guidelines for the Written Report are as follows:

1. INTRODUCTION 
1.1 Purpose – state the objectives of the report.
1.2 Background – provides information on the context of the internship (such as the duration, brief details about the SIP Organisation as well as the roles and departments you were attached to).
1.3 Methods of Investigation – state the sources of information for writing the
report.
1.4 Scope – state the areas the report is limited to or the extent of coverage of the report.

2. FINDINGS AND REFLECTIONS 
2.1 Functional Areas
ƒ Describe the retail format of the SIP Organisation.
ƒ Describe the target market(s) of the store(s) of attachment.
ƒ Identify the main competitors and describe their competitive strengths with the use of a positioning map.
ƒ Evaluate at least three (3) relevant elements from the following:
ƒ Merchandise variety and an assortment
ƒ Store design and display
ƒ Location
ƒ Pricing
ƒ Communication mix
ƒ Customer service
ƒ Store operations
2.2 Reflect on your learning experience in terms of the knowledge, skills and
attitudes acquired and whether the Learning Outcomes have been met.
2.3 Critically evaluate your internship performance and your strengths and
weaknesses, which will be instrumental in helping you to determine your developmental needs.
2.4 Reflect on the course curriculum and whether what you have learned at the Polytechnic is relevant to your work. You could discuss the subjects and
principles learnt in the course that were relevant to your work and suggest improvements that could be made to the curriculum to increase your
effectiveness in the workplace.
2.5 Discuss how the internship has impacted your career aspirations. You could explain whether you would pursue a career in your SIP Organisation or a
similar area of work if given the opportunity. If you had prior career aspirations before you started the internship, discuss how the internship may have changed your views in any way.

3. ENVIRONMENT AND SUSTAINABILITY 
Discuss how the SIP Organisation has used available resources to minimise the impact of environmental damage and enhance sustainability.

If the environment or sustainability practices are not in place, discuss how the organisation can benefit from the implementation of green practices or sustainable programmes.

4. BUSINESS IT AND TECHNOLOGY 
Discuss how the SIP Organisation has used IT and technology to increase the
efficiency of its business and operations.

Comment on your IT literacy in comparison with the desired IT literacy required to perform the tasks assigned.

5. RECOMMENDATIONS AND CONCLUSION 
Provide feasible recommendations to improve your work performance for the
tasks assigned.

Provide concluding remarks on the overall internship programme. You may
wish to offer suggestions on how the internship programme could be enhanced.
