The project involved the construction of a 12m high x 24m long iconic junction gateway arch, with the two legs of the arch separated and diagonally placed on a pile cap between the corner of the Joo Chiat Road and Geylang Serai Junction, deemed sustainable green infrastructure to enhance pedestrian conn activity, anchor the Geylang Serai cultural belt, and maximize public open space to improve community health and urban wellbeing.

The three legs of steel parts for the arch structure were brought in by an extended trailer with the law enforcement Police guide transport from a woodland factory to the site, and had to be assembled on-site, raised slowly with a crane, and built separately and supported by the concrete pile cap below. If their dimensions differ by 0.396875 mm, they cannot be joined at the top. Welders must work very carefully to ensure accurate measurements, and builders are confident in their products with a margin of error of less than 0.5mm.
