The main role of the department is to coordinate and manage healthcare education across three groups of healthcare professionals consisting of allied health, nursing, and medical. The staff in the department work with local post-secondary education institutions, polytechnics as well as universities in Singapore that provides healthcare education such as the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine and Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.

Back then, there was no education office that focuses on managing undergraduates however with the rising demand for healthcare education, it was decided that each hospital will need to have an education office. My chosen leader was the pioneer who was selected to set up the education office in this hospital.
