With reference to Figure Q2, apply measurement techniques to take off quantities for the:
(a) Reinforced concrete columns and formwork (8 marks)
(b) Reinforced concrete beam and formwork (7 marks)
(c) Reinforcement (15 marks)
Specifications:
(i) Reinforced concrete shall be of grade 35 strength
(ii) Size of columns is 230x230mm square and beam is 250x230mm wide
(iii) Formwork used shall be of wrot timber
(iv) Concrete cover shall be 25mm thick
(v) All main steel reinforcement bars shall be of high tensile steel. Stirrups shall be of mild steel
(vi) Minimum bend allowance shall be 150mm long. Hook allowance for links and stirrups shall be 24 times the diameter of the bar size
(vii) Suspended slab thickness is 125mm

(a) Identify and interpret the SMM rules that can be applied to the measurement of static load test on working piles. (6 marks)
(b) Differentiate between preliminary and working piles and the type of test to be executed on each type of pile. (6 marks)

Table Q4 shows the piling work schedule for a residential project.
Apply measurement techniques to take off quantities for:

(b) Timber tantalized piles (15 marks)
(c) Precast reinforced concrete piles (15 marks)
(d) Pile tests for timber and concrete piles (8 marks)
Specifications:
Timber Piles
(i) The working load test shall execute up to 1.5 times the designed working load
(ii) The supply length of piles is 4.00m long
(iii) All timber piles are to be cut off at the required cut off level as specified including coating exposed timber surfaces with two coats of bituminous paint
(iv) Box sleeve joints shall be of mild steel, 450mm long and coated with 2 coats of bituminous paint
Precast Reinforced Concrete Piles
(i) All precast reinforced concrete shall be of grade 40
(ii) Precast concrete piles shall be reinforced with 6T20mm diameter main bars with R6mm diameter links@150mm c/c
(iii) The supply length of piles is 4.00m long
(iv) All piles are to be cut at the required cut off level as specified and including cleaning, straightening and bending projecting reinforcement for incorporating into pile caps
(v) The ultimate maintained load test shall be executed up to 3 times the designed working load or to failure.
