Topic 1:

Warehousing in its many guises appears at different points across supply chain networks.  Intermodal choice is also important for the overall performance of the supply chain. Select two of the following companies and give your answers:

Select TWO of these companies: Zara, H&M, ASOS, SHEIN, Primark, Topshop, Gap

1. From a global supply chain perspective, describe and compare the design of their supply networks and supply chain facilities.
2. Identify and explain how these two companies handle their forward and reverse logistics, and warehousing functions.
3. Evaluate the strengths and weakness of the intermodal/multimodal choice and transport strategies use by the two companies for delivering goods at various points of their supply networks.

You MUST use diagrams and flow charts to illustrate and underpin your analysis. e.g., use a supply chain diagram to illustrate the locations of their key supply chain facilities.

1. Review the importance of facility location in relation to the company’s proximity to customers and markets. Explain the factors that the company may have taken into consideration when selecting the specific facility location.
2. Discuss the key location issues that present challenges to the company’s future expansion and analyse the implications for environmental and social responsibility.
