LB5520 Assessment Brief
The final report should be written and presented as a professional document. Although it will not be read by your employer, it should be written with a professional audience in mind, either future employers or peers that are also about to embark on a project or internship.
Your final report and reflection should be structured as follows. Recommended lengths for each section are included.
1. Reflection on Project/Internship (~400 words)
In this section you should summarise the internship/project, clearly stating the extent to which objectives and outcomes were achieved. You should describe and any deviation from the initial project/internship plan and reflect on how this impacted your learning experience. Where possible, draw on the academic literature associated with your discipline to enrich your understanding of the contribution you made to the organisation.
2. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Appraisal (~300 words)
Based on the scope and objectives of the project/internship, you should then complete the “end of internship self-appraisal” from the logbook, before writing a short reflection on how you feel you have developed and improved during the project/internship. You should also highlight and discuss areas where you feel you still need to develop.
3. Achievement of Learning Outcomes (~300 words)
In this section you should evaluate the extent to which you achieved the five to six learning outcomes that you set in the initial learning brief. Discuss the specific tasks, experiences, or activities that enabled fulfilment, or the factors that made it more challenging to develop in the way that you intended. With reference to the academic literature, explain how achievement of your learning outcomes has enhanced your employability.
4. The Next Step (~500 words)
In the final section, you should reflect on how you intend to use the internship/project experience as a springboard for career advancement. Describe the roles and positions that you might now be competitive for, as well as a possible trajectory from these role(s) to more advanced and senior positions in your chosen industry. Reflect on your professional identity, both in its current form and how you hope it will develop over the next few years. This section should reflect back on the learning outcomes you have achieved and those that still require further work.
