1. A beam AC weighs 500 N, is hinged at A, and inclined at an angle θ° from the vertical line. On the other side of the beam, it supported by a wire from D and attached at point C. It is attached with a block mass of  100 N resting at point B as shown in Figure 1. The beam’s center of gravity, G, is located at the midpoint of AC.
a. From triangle ADC, using Sine and Cosine rules, where applicable, determine:
(i) the angle DCA, and
(ii) the length of a CD.

b.(i) Sketch the free body diagram of the beam AC. Determine the magnitude and direction of:
(ii) the tension in the wire, and
(iii) with the aid of a relevant force vector diagram, the reaction at hinge A.

c. In Figure 1, the block of 100 N is placed on the θ° inclined plane as shown. Determine the minimum value of the coefficient of static friction between the block and plane, so that the block will not slide down the inclined plane.

2. a. A vehicle has started to move from the static condition and stop in front of a traffic light. Determine how friction has affected the vehicle movement from start to stop.

b. Write a short reflection on the topics of Chapter 3 (Equilibrium) and Chapter 4 (Friction). In the report, describe what you have learned about the topics, factors affecting the topics, examples of the topics in everyday life, and other relevant information about the topics
