After successfully completing this course students will be able to:
- Describe influences on the health and wellbeing of the ageing population by identifying normal ageing patterns, and age-related and age-acquired illness including chronic conditions;
- Explain physiological parameters associated with acute and chronic illness in the older person;
- Identify factors related to pharmacological agents that influence the care, treatment, and comfort of older adults
- Reflect upon personal attitudes, beliefs, and cultural influences and how they affect ageing and care of older persons;
- Discuss client-centered care of older adults in acute, specialty, and community settings, including intervention strategies related to compromised cognitive function.
